Inca Jungle Trek 4 Days 3 Nights to Machu Picchu
The 4-day, 3-night Inca Jungle Trek is one of the most exciting routes to Machu Picchu, combining adrenaline, spectacular scenery, and authentic contact with the local culture. Unlike the classic Inca Trail, this alternative allows you to enjoy activities such as mountain biking, trekking, and optionally rafting and ziplining, traversing the cloud forest of Cusco.
For four days, you’ll experience everything from biking down the Andes and hiking through mountains and jungle to relaxing in hot springs and finally exploring the wonder of the world, Machu Picchu. This tour is ideal for adventurous travelers looking for something more than a traditional trip.
Itinerario detallado
Day 1: Cusco – Abra Málaga – Cycling – Santa María
The adventure begins bright and early with a pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We’ll travel by tourist transport to the breathtaking Abra Málaga pass, located at over 4,300 meters above sea level. During the journey, you’ll witness the landscape change dramatically, transitioning from Andean mountains to tropical zones.
Upon reaching the highest point, we’ll begin our descent by bicycle. This experience is simply unforgettable: you’ll feel the adrenaline rush as you ride along paths surrounded by mist, lush vegetation, and natural waterfalls. The weather becomes warmer as we descend into the high jungle.
After lunch, we’ll arrive in the town of Santa María, where you can relax and enjoy the local atmosphere. In the afternoon, you have the option of rafting on the Urubamba River, an ideal activity for adventure lovers.
Day 2: Santa María – Trekking – Santa Teresa
During the tour, your guide will explain the flora, fauna, and history of the local communities. You’ll also cross suspension bridges and enjoy spectacular views of the valley.
In the afternoon, we’ll arrive in Santa Teresa, where you can relax in the famous Cocalmayo hot springs (optional). Immersing yourself in these warm waters surrounded by mountains is the perfect way to recharge.
Day 3: Santa Teresa – Zipline – Hydroelectric Plant – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, you can opt for an exciting zipline activity, where you will fly over the valley enjoying unique panoramic views.
Next, we’ll continue to Hidroeléctrica, a key point on the trek to Aguas Calientes. From here, we’ll begin a leisurely walk along the train tracks, surrounded by lush vegetation and the special energy that heralds the approach to Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you’ll have free time to explore the town, relax, or visit its hot springs. In the evening, your guide will give you an informative talk about the following day’s visit.
Day 4: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
The most anticipated day has arrived. Very early, we will begin our ascent to Machu Picchu, either on foot or by bus (optional). Watching the sunrise at this sacred place is an experience that will be etched in your memory forever.
During the guided tour, you will explore the main areas of the citadel: temples, agricultural terraces, plazas, and ceremonial enclosures. You will learn about the history, architecture, and mysteries of this wonder of the world.
